Pressure builds on Gattuso after Frosinone draw
Football-Nairobi, Kenya 27 December 14:03 GMT
AC Milan boss Genarro Gattuso has come under more pressure with his side had Frosinone Camillo Ciano goal disallowed through VAR drawing 0-0 to leave the Rossoneri without a win in the last four games.
Gattuso close to the sack?
According to Calciomercato, reports that the 40-year-old was faced with an ultimatum of six points from the games against Frosinone and SPAL, or he would get sacked. As Gattuso failed to meet the requirements, the club has reportedly decided to not to continue with the Italian manager with Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte favourites Calciomercato.com’s Isak Möller.
Speaking with the media Gattuso was disappointed with the first half performance in the 0-0 draw against Frosinone
“We didn’t play well in the first half. We were lucky because we could have lost the game. We had our chances in the second half, we created something, we were a bit better but we don’t score goals right now”. He told DAZN
“We need to be more precise and don’t waste the chances that we create. It’s not a matter of luck, we are not precise and that’s our fault. What did I tell the lads? The same things that I am telling you.
“We can’t play with the mentality that we had in the first half. We can’t have that approach. We gifted 45 minutes to Frosinone. There is lack of results and I can’t accept performances like that one of the first half”.
“I am worried about the team, not my future. I take responsibility for this situation, I need to work because the players are not performing as they should”.
Frosinone manager Marco Baroni speaking to Dazn after his side’s 0-0 draw against AC Milan:
“The lads deserve the praise. We did well and I saw the bravery that I demanded before the kick-off. Some players were excited and warned about facing AC Milan. We knew we had to steal may balls and we did it well, attacking with many players. I really liked our attitude, this is the right mentality”.
