Barcelona sealed a 2-0 win in La Liga against Celta Vigo with Valencia’s Jelson Murillo also confirmed that his move to the Blaugrana with an option to buy.
“We broke their defensive line well in the first half,” he said after the match as quoted by Marca
“They wanted to reduce the space inside, but the room was behind their defence and that’s where the first goal came from.
“In the second half we were more tired, we didn’t have the ball as much and we wanted to play very fast.”
Jordi Alba and Lionel Messi‘s incredible chemistry was on show again as the pair combined for another goal.
“Alba and Messi understand each other perfectly and it keeps on working,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jelson Murillo transfer was confirmed on loan with an option to make it permanent in the summer.
“We’re in a delicate moment with regards to centre-backs. We’ve practically been able to count on only two [Pique and Lenglet] in the last couple of months after the injuries to Umtiti and Vermaelen.
“We understood that we needed reinforcements, although we can call upon our B centre-backs if we need them.
“We wanted someone who had experience of La Liga or at least European football, and Murillo ticks that box.
“There are only a few out there who meet those requirements, so we think it worked out well for us because we believe he’s a great player.
“We know Murillo wasn’t playing for Valencia, otherwise he couldn’t have come in. We had to take lots of constraints into account.
“If we had €100m to spend, we could’ve brought in a player starting for their club… but that wasn’t the case.
“Still, that doesn’t mean we don’t have faith in Murillo and that he can’t help us.”
