EUROPE- Eden Hazard has claimed that his head coach Zinedine Zidane was his idol growing up and had been looking to join Real Madrid since 2016 while taking a swipe at Juventus and Inter Milan bosses.
Hazard admitted to Zinedine Zidane making contact with the Belgium star since 2016 and had always sought to move to Los Blancos.
“We don’t have the same style as players, and he was technically better than me,” Hazard added.
“You look at him and you get the impression that he always has a good time with football.
“He called me during the 2016 European Championship and told me he wanted me to come.
“That has always stuck in my head.”
Now that he’s under the tutelage of Zidane he’s enjoying the daily work with the Frenchman.
“The sessions are always with the ball,” Hazard revealed.
Hazard took a swipe at his former coaches Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri although he won with both coaches the English Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League.
“I spent three years with Italian coaches like [Antonio] Conte and [Maurizio] Sarri and that’s much less pleasant.
“I’m rediscovering something that I like.”
The winger has always been infatuated by the idea of playing for Real Madrid, which he’s never made any secrets of.
“In my garden, I played and pretended to be with Madrid,” he admitted.
“Zidane was my idol. When I saw the Bernabeu on the TV it was magical.
“The white shirt was impeccable.
