EUROPE- Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo has been ruled out for the season after undergoing surgery for a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament with meniscus damage, ending his season and ruling him out of Euro 2020.

Zaniolo got injured in the Serie A tie against Juventus and comes as a blow with his father revealing that the forward will be out for six months at most.

“Naturally, he wants to be there, but if the timing of his recovery doesn’t allow for that, he’ll have to accept it,” former Genoa striker Igor Zaniolo told the Corriere Dello Sport.

“It’s generally five to six months, then we’ll see. Now he has to focus on getting back on his feet, then we’ll see, it’s important not to rush these things.

“The Euros are important, but recovering completely is the main thing. He starts rehabilitation tomorrow and will follow the timetable set out for him by the medics.

“He’s already raring to go, so we’ve got to calm him down a bit!”
