Chelsea faces Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday with the Blues looking to keep up with the league leader Liverpool.
Despite suffering just two league defeats all season (W11, D4, L2), Chelsea sit in fourth-place in the Premier League (PL) – a whole eight points off leaders Liverpool.
Both defeats came away from Stamford Bridge, and only Liverpool and Manchester City have bettered Chelsea’s return of 21 points from home matches. The key to Chelsea’s success this season has been their ability to strike first against their opponents. They have scored the opening goal in 13 of their 17 league matches this term, while also leading at half-time in a clear majority (11) of them.
Leicester City have lost just two of their previous eight league matches (W2, D4, L2), though both defeats have come in their previous two matches. In contrast to their opponents’ form,
‘The Foxes’ have conceded the opening goal in 11 of their 17 league matches so far this season.
