Lille OSC ‘regain confidence’ with first win in five games
1 December 2019
France-Lille’s Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen scored the all-important goal during the French L1 against Dijon (DFCO) at the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium in Villeneuve d’Ascq to end a five-game winless run in all competitions.
Lille last win came in a 3-0 win against Bordeaux and had no win except a draw against Metz in Ligue 1 with their last game coming in the same loss in the Champions League at home to Ajax Amsterdam.
The Dogues only goal came courtesy of a penalty from their striker Osimhen after the VAR review with the Nigerian international being brought down in the box.
Speaking after Lille victory against Dijon, 1-0 Gabriel defender Lille said the side had gained confidence: “We knew it would be a difficult match, we gave everything and it feels good to win to regain confidence. When we do not win, it’s difficult, but we have to forget what happened in the Champions League and focus on the Championship. Lyon will be a high-level match (Tuesday, 9:05 pm). Until then, you have to rest. I am very close to Thiago Mendes, we talk to each other every week and I will be happy to meet him on Tuesday. “
