Germany- Schalke were denied late on in making three wins in a row but managed an exciting 3-3 draw at home against Fortuna Dusseldorf in the Bundesliga with Rouwen Hennings hat-trick.

The Royal Blues were looking to make it three in three Bundesliga wins but their opponents were also looking to match their hosts with triple wins.

Schalke took the lead with Benito Raman assisting Daniel Caligiuri on the half-hour before Hennings equalised after the hour via a penalty. The hosts took the lead seven minutes later from Bastian Oczipka sent corner kick which Ozan Kabak turned in with a header.

Hennings got his brace, rifling a shot past Nübel with a quarter of an hour left only for Suat Serdar’s deflected shot to nestle into the net but Henning was at it again with five minutes left to restore parity.

“The boys reacted well every time the opposition equalised. Just as Düsseldorf did every time we took the lead. That was the story of the afternoon. Schalke head coach David Wagner gave his opinion of the match.

However, we had two or three more opportunities to score even more. Unfortunately, we failed to take these chances. Overall it was a good game from us. We had lots of possession and created a number of opportunities. However, you can also argue that we made it too easy for them to score their second and third goals.”
