Lazio was denied a late equaliser in stoppage time with VAR ruling out the Francesco Acerbi header as they fell 1-0 to a Duvan Zapata first minute goal for Atalanta who move to sixth a point behind Aquile after languishing in the relegation spots early this season.
Lazio head coach Simone Inzaghi commented with great bitterness the defeat against Atalanta
“When I saw that the referee was waiting I thought that they would have cancelled the goal”
“It ‘a race that we did not deserve to lose, our goalkeeper did not do an intervention. If we work with this spirit, the results come. The draw did not change much in the standings but I’m sorry for the guys who did not deserve to lose”.
Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini was happy with the decision:
“The goal one minute from the end? I would rather not take it, but it is normal that when you find these teams in the final throw a lot of balls inside. He told Sky Sport.
“Fortunately there is that half foot as well goals, without the Var, it would have been impossible to see him”.
” Atalanta is in a state of a tremendous form: “We have defeated at home two big clubs Inter and Lazio, today we risked some situations; It was a hard-fought match, for us it has a special value. It is not easy to manage after the immediate advantage, we feared the Lazio strikers, but on the counterattacks, we had good chances”.
