Lille shocked with Toulouse gifting Antoine Kombouare
Toulouse new head coach Antoine Kombouare was pleased with his gift after his side handed Lille OSC a 2-1 defeat in Ligue 1.
Toulouse striker Yaya Sanogo put the hosts ahead on 58 minutes opener before Ivory Coast international Max Gradel doubled the lead eight minutes later with Jose Fonte scoring a consolation.
Antoine Kombouare on his sides 2-1 win: “I am satisfied. I am proud of my players. I thanked them. I honestly did not think they were capable of doing such a great performance.
“Yes. We were going to win this game. We knew it would be difficult, complicated. The players made a great match. Defensively first. Then they exploited the spaces offensively. We were scared in the first half because we had two injured players Bafodé Diakité and Wesley Saïd (sprained ankle).
“They will spend Monday medical examinations. I told them they gave me a very nice gift of arrival. I told them they had great qualities.
“The players knew that they were responsible for what had happened. They must not repeat the nonsense. But beware, this is only the truth of a match. ”
Toulouse moves to 13 points with Lille in sixth in the Ligue 1 log with 15 points from 10 games with Bordeaux their next league outing after Wednesday’s Uefa Champions League game against Valencia.
