Lille coach Christophe Galtier expressed his “pride” after the performance of his players

“I’m really proud of my players, they released the match that was out, it’s a great victory. Nîmes was the most successful team of the last five days. Signing a success in Nîmes is a great performance. We were irreproachable in our attitude and our behaviour to ten against eleven”.

“Despite the expulsion of our captain, we managed to hang on and score two goals, it’s a performance. If we had not been smart in our football, we could never have won. I never thought of 0-3 that we won this game, I knew that a goal could revive Nimes”.

“Tomorrow, if we have the good fortune to switch to 37 points at the end of the first leg, it would be something exceptional compared to our past season”.

On Jose Fonte sending off against Nimes

“It is a form of injustice. José has a word that escapes him, the linesman took it for him, but these are words that say even in training. I am told that there was an insult. I think it should have been more discerning. It annoyed me. It’s a bit hard and a bit of a shame. I will go to the Disciplinary Committee to explain myself”.
