Chelsea had Eden Hazard in the false nine role as the blues faced Brighton and were again rewarded as the Belgium scored the winner in a 2-1 win at Brighton and Hove in the premier league.
Chelsea sticking with their winning formula against Manchester City went ahead as Hazard’s shot was closed done and took the rebound into the box and cut a low shot on the face of the goal for Pedro to tap in at the back post before Willian intercepted Balogun pass to release the Belgium to wrong-foot Matthew Ryan in the Brighton goal.
Brighton came back in the second half with Solly March finishing a scuffed header into the ground to hook from five yards out to bring the home side into the game for a grandstand finish but the Blues held on to the tide for three points.
Hazard on the false nine role: “I always play with the same ability and quality. As a winger and striker, I just try to enjoy my football”.
Maurizio Sarri: “I think that we could have won better. We played very well for 60 minutes. We conceded a goal when we were in full control. In my mind it was clear in that moment that we had to suffer in the box, we are not a physical team. I tried with the substitutions to have more of a physical presence.” He told Football London
When we have the feeling to be in control of the match it is dangerous for ourselves. The first situation in our box in 30 minutes, I think we were a bit unlucky. When we are sure to be in control of the match.Complacency? I don’t know.
