Havertz breaks record with goal for Leverkusen at Stuttgart
Bayer Leverkusen Kai Havertz went into the record books after scoring from a penalty to hand his side a 1-0 win over Stuttgart at Mercedes-Benz Arena on April 13, 2019.
Bayer Leverkusen had been on a three-game losing streak coming into the game that had seen them slip in the race for Champions League football with slim hopes now on catching up.
Leverkusen goal came after striker Kevin Volland was tripped by Gonzalo Castro inside the area, with Havertz stepping up to coolly send Zieler the wrong way from the penalty spot.
Havertz penalty was his 13th goal in the Bundesliga season in his and came on his century in appearances for Bayer Leverkusen and has been 100% from the spot.
Havertz,19-year-old scoring the penalty has become the youngest player to reach 13 goals in a Bundesliga season since Stuttgart’s Horst Köppel in 1967/68.
