Diego Costa handed eight game ban for referee insult
Diego Costa is reportedly set to be banned for up to eight games following his red card for insulting the matchday referee against Barcelona.
According to a report on the ‘El Partidazo’ programme on Cadena Cope and Radio MARCA, the Spanish FA’s competition committee are set to suspend the player for four matches for the insult and for four matches for grabbing the official.
Costa was sent off on 28 minutes of the game for explicit language with Reuters journalist Richard Martin revealed Gil Manzano’s post-match report stated: “In the 28th minute the player Diego Da Silva Costa was sent off for the following motive: he shouted loudly at me the following words: ‘I SH*T ON YOUR WH*RE MOTHER, I SH*T ON YOUR WH*RE MOTHER.'”
Costa, 30 years old has been having a poor season since his return to Atletico Madrid from Chelsea with just six goals in the last two seasons with two red cards and seven yellow cards.
