Torino miss chance to move into Champions league spot
Torino who have steadily climbed the Serie A table to within four points of the coveted spots and with their rivals facing tough matches.
The Granata drew a blank with numerous chances against Parma who were looking for points after four straight defeats in the Serie A.
Daniele Baselli had the first real chance as he latched on Alejandro Berenguer’s lay off outside the box but his shot sailed wide of the left post.
Cristian Ansaldi weaving run from the left wing found Berenguer but his low driven shot was weak and easily taken into the arms of Sepe.
Baselli in the second half linked with Andrea Bellotti and the midfielder finesed some space to attempt a curling effort but the angle was narrow and his effort sailed over the far post.
Parma were looking to hit Torino on the counter and almost succeeded with Ceravolo’s run through and fortunately found Di Marco to race into the box from the left side of the box but his effort was too close to the keeper.
Torino’s best chance came from Bellotti tee up for Berenguer inside the box but the forward blazed over the bar to the disgruntlement of his manager.
“I’m not happy, we deserved the victory clearly, but unfortunately it didn’t come.” At the end of the match against Parma, Walter Mazzarri summed up his thoughts in front of the Sky Sport Italia via the club website.
“We did everything to win, especially in the first half where we had a clear possession, crushing Parma in their own half, but we always missed the last pass.
” I think it also influenced the fact that it was the third game in a week in which I had to line up practically the same team, given the unavailability of players for us as fundamental as Aina, Falque and Lukic. In these cases the composure may easily be missing and I think this was our biggest problem today.
I am bitter because we would certainly have deserved more, but if you do not score the maximum you can get is a point “.
