Barcelona salvage late draw at Villarreal

Barcelona threw away a two-goal lead at Villarreal only to salvage a 4-4 draw in stoppage time with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez on target for the Blaugrana.

Barcelona had taken the lead with on song Malcom laying for Coutinho to finish with a stretched reach and the Brazilian headed the second.

Villarreal, however, turned the game around with four unanswered goals as impressive youngster Samuel Chukwueze, Karl Toko Ekambi, Vicente Iborra and Carlos Bacca turned the game on its head.

Barcelona turnaround came from referee Alejandro Hernandez sending off of Alvaro for Villarreal and Lionel Messi turned in a free-kick with the aid of the post before Luis Suarez struck from a corner.

“I think this is a game that will help us a lot,” Valverde said after the chaotic draw at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

“Especially in the face of the commitments we have now. We know that there’s a lot left to win LaLiga Santander.

“It will be difficult and all the teams have good players.”
