Valencia sack head coach amid Chelsea CL Clash
Valencia CF have shockingly sacked manager Marcelino and have replaced him with Albert Celades.
Marcelinho had guided the club to a Copa Del Rey with the 54-year-old joining the club in 2017after a turbulent time with multiple head coach changes.
Marcelino led Valencia to fourth place and qualification for the Champions League and reached the semifinal of the Europa League going out to Arsenal.
Former Barcelona midfielder Celades and Real Madrid assistant, 43-years old, joins until June 2021 and took his first training session on Wednesday.
“The club wants to thank you for your work and dedication during your time with the club and wish you the greatest success for the future,” the club website read.
Marcelinho last game saw Valencia draw at home to Real Sociedad and losing to Celta Vigo before beating Real Mallorca 2-0.
Celades will start his Valencia career as he faces Barcelona in La Liga and closely followed with a trip to Chelsea in their opening game of the Champions League on Tuesday.
