Manchester City moved to the top of the English premier league with a 3-1 win over Everton with Gabriel Jesus netting a brace and Raheem Sterling rare header.
Gabriel Jesus ends goal drought
Jordan Pickford was called early on into action to prevent an own goal from Michael Keane but City would not be denied for much longer with Gabriel Jesus’ 22nd-minute goal, clinically slotted past the Everton keeper from inside the left of the area, after Leroy Sane through pass with Yerry Mina poor clearance allowing for a quick transition and the Brazilian to end his goal drought since August.
Jesus scores with Header
Pep Guardiola’s side could not extend their lead before the halftime break but they put that right within five minutes of the restart as Sane chipped a first time accurate delivery over Keane’s head from the left side corner of the penalty box and unmarked Jesus thumped an unstoppable header past Pickford.
Everton hit back with a goal
Toffees grabbed a lifeline fifteen minutes after with Calvert-Lewin meeting a Lucas Digne delivery by nodding past Ederson via a deflection off Fabian Delph to bring the game back to life.
Citizens regain the two-goal cushion
But barely four minutes later than Sterling had only been on the pitch four minutes when he converted a near-post header with Fernandinho delivering a cross that took out Mina and the England international put his head on the money for an easy finish.
