Gonzalo Higuain retires from international football
Chelsea and Juventus on loan Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain has told the media that he has made a decision to bring an end to his international career.
Higuain who has been on loan at Chelsea after being on loan at AC Milan earlier this year until January has revealed that he had talks with current manager Lionel Scaloni before his decision with the Copa America coming in the summer.
Higuain has represented his national team since 2009 and has made 75 appearances for Albiceleste scoring 31 goals in his stint with the club and reached three finals in the Copa America and World cup in 2014.
The 31-year-old striker speaking to Fox Sports Argentina told the media:
“My period with Argentina is coming to an end. I had an exchange with Lionel Scaloni(Argentine manager) and i gave him my point of oponion, My decision is made and I think its best. , For now i want to enjoy my family. To play three finals and lose is not a failure.”
