Mauro Icardi in line to face Lazio in Serie A
Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi is close to making a return to the first team after fellow striker Lautaro Martinez was injured on international duty.
According to reports from the club website revealed that the Argentine international will be out for close to a week
“The examination showed a muscular distraction to the rectus femoris of the right thigh. For the Argentine striker planning a personalized work, his conditions will be re-evaluated next week”.
Inter striker Mauro Icardi following his exile from the team returned on Tuesday as he joined his Nerazzurri teammates in training for the first time in a month and a half and is back in contention.
Icardi who has been thought to have rejected contract talks with his club with his wife and agent Wanda Nara in to and fro about the conclusion of extension talks leading to the stripping of his captaincy.
During his absence, the club have been knocked out of the Europa League and their Serie A form has dipped with their 3-2 win at the San Siro over rivals Milan keeping their top four ambitions on course after being pegged back by the chasing pack for a champions league spot.
The Argentine’s form has also fallen with his goal tally this season dropping to nine for the campaign after bagging over 29 goals in all competitions with 15 this season.
Icardi who last wore the blue and black on February 9th against Parma will welcome the return after accusing the club officials of mishandling the situation.
“I don’t know if, in these moments, there is love and respect for Inter and for me by some of those who take decisions [at the club],” wrote Icardi.
“I do not know if there is a willingness to resolve things for the good of Inter.
“A lot of things can happen in a family, both good and bad.
“And for love, you can endure everything.
“But you do not have to disrespect [me].”
