AFC Leopards were coming off from a 1-1 draw with Kariobangi Sharks while the home side were from a 1-0 win against KCB FC before their meeting for the second round of the KPL with the last meeting ending in a 3-0 win for Kakamega Homeboyz.
Paul N’Kata’s men were looking the more dangerous side in the first exchanges and deservedly went ahead with Peter Thiongo breaking the deadlock after a clearance to the middle of the pitch lead to a quick transition with the youngster getting the ball on the left flank to drive into the box and unleashed a shot into back of the net on 14 minutes.
Homeboyz added the second in the 68th minute with Thiongo providing the second with a cutback for Maxwell Ravel tapping into the back of the net after a goal kick and a flick on Allan Wanga and found the man of the match to tee the scorer.
Ingwe were stunned conceding a third on 73 minutes as they were hit from on the counter from a corner which broke and Thiongo was left with the half all to himself and raced to tee up again this time to George Mandela to stroke it into the back of the net.
