Valencia rescue qualification Europa League

Valencia had to rely on a Goncalo Guedes stoppage-time winner in Krasnodar Stadium to seal a berth in quarter-finals of the Europa League.

Valencia had taken a slim 2-1 win over their Russian hosts who stunned them with an 86th-minute goal from Magomed-Shapi Suleymanov wonder strike who curled to the roof of the net but rescued their campaign with the Portuguese Guedes strike from Kevin Gameiro’s set up.

speaking after the 1-1 draw for Valencia against Krasnodar head coach Marcelinho said:

“It seems to me that in the general count of the tie we deserved to pass it, their goalkeeper made good saves both in Valencia and today,” he said.

“Today they scored a great goal and then we had the success and the luck to tie in a great play, in football we have to take advantage of the opportunities, we were able to be out with a great goal, but they generated very little in the game as a whole”. he added.

“Now we will see the quarter and semi-final table, which will be difficult, but we continue with Barcelona as the only Spanish team in three competitions,” he said.
