Mathare United win 3-0 at Nzoia Sugar in KPL

Mathare United brushed aside Nzoia Sugar with a 3-0 scoreline earning a second win in as many matches in the Kenya Premier League.

Clifford Alwanga was the danger man with two shots out of the target with a shot from outside the box that took a deflection that went past the right post with a cutback skying from a cutback.

Nzoia were dealt a blow as Collins Wakhungu was given his marching orders for a dangerous two-footed challenge ON James Situma with just 24 minutes gone in the game.

Alwanga was pivotal as the slum boys put on the pressure with the striker brushing off a defender from a long through ball but keeper Benson Mangala closed down the shot and the rebound fell for Cliff Nyakeya to stroke it from outside the box into the back of the net on 26 minutes.

The Mathare striker was denied with his shot hitting the bottom right post on the last minutes of the first half from a cross to the edge of the area.

Francis Kimanzi added the second with Kevin Kimani proving the difference with the winger winning a free-kick on the left wing after his free-kick was blocked and the rebound went into the flank and was brought down from behind and his set piece to the back post was met by Andrew Juma with the keeper left stranded on 52 minutes.

Kimani free-kick proved too hot to handle and Mangala punched it to the side on 59 minutes ut the ball was cut back and James Kinyajui was there from six yards to stroke it to the back of the net.
