Sadio Mane and Firmino hit braces on in Liverpool comeback

Liverpool Senegalese forward Sadio Mane and Brazilian striker Roberto Firmino were both on target in a 4-2 comeback win over Burnley to move to within a point of Manchester City.

Burnley shocked the Anfield faithful with a sixth-minute opener after Ashley Westwood corner kick went straight in evading Alisson Becker after coming under pressure from the Clarets attackers.

Jurgen Klopp speaking on the goal said: “usually it would have been disallowed if Andre [Marriner] has a better view of it, I don’t know exactly. I saw in the first moment it was a foul and now I have seen pictures you cannot treat the goalie like this, it should not happen, but they scored.

“One of them was the early goal we conceded; usually, it would have been disallowed if Andre [Marriner] has a better view of it, I don’t know exactly.

“I saw in the first moment it was a foul and now I have seen pictures you cannot treat the goalie like this, it should not happen, but they scored”.

Firmino equalized from close range after Mohamed Salah efforts, running to the Burnley byline and crossing across the goal that evaded Tom Heaton and a defender for an easy goal for the Brazilian.

“We had the ball pretty much all of the time, we created, I think we had 23 shots or something like that versus three, two of which were in.

“Wonderful play for [our] first goal, a little one-two in the box, Mo presses it through, Bobby easy goal”. Klopp added

Adam Lallana press created the second goal ad his block went through to Salah but Charlie Taylor nicked the ball that fell perfectly for Mane to put the ‘Reds’ in front.

Heaton handed Liverpool the third form hs poor kick that went straight to Salah who raced towards goal and was tackled in the box but the ball came off both players to turn into a nice pass to Firmino to side-foot into the back of the net.

Burnley reduced the deficit in stoppage time for a nervy couple of minutes as Matej Vydra tees up Johann Gudmundsson but Mane had the last laugh racing through to convert Daniel Sturridge through pass.
