Torino had to suffer against Chievo before coming out tops in their Serie A clash against relegation battlers Chievo to win 3-0 at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino.
Torino broke the deadlock on 76 minutes after striker Andrea Bellotti rifled from 30 yards after a one two with Simeone Zaza for the Granata.
Tomas Rincon added the second after the Flying Donkeys let him makes a good run unchallenged, skipping past defenders and firing the ball from the edge of the box past the diving goalkeeper in the second minute of stoppage time.
Zaza pounced on a defensive lapse from Marco Andreolli to pick up the ball before slotting it into the back of the net going just under Stefano Sorrentino’s gloves.
Toro move level on points with Lazio on 41 points to stay in touch with the chase for the champions league positions.
Torino coach Walter Mazzarri speaking after Chievo 3-0 at home: “We suffered as never before, first of all, I must congratulate Chievo: if you keep playing like this you can still survive, they have put us in difficulty like few teams this year.
“We have played a worse game against Napoli, but it has never happened to suffer as it is today in terms of the game. rhythms were too low: we also risked taking goals, a bit of luck andSirigu saved us”.
“There are certain games in a Serie A that one must pick up points, today it was one of those, I thought I was suffering a little less, I’m honest … We have to look at each other in the eyes on Tuesday to go to Frosinone to play another game.
“The guys felt the importance of winning today, the responsibility sometimes hangs in. We bring home three points, but from Tuesday we work for the game against Frosinone “.
