Espanyol cruise past Real Valladolid

RCD Espanyol were 3-1 victors over plucky Real Valladolid in the LaLiga Santander early game as Wu Lei notched his first goal for the club.
Borja Iglesias opened the scoring within the first minute for the fastest goal on 18 seconds, this season in La Liga after Oscar Melendo played a wonderful chipped pass in behind the Valladolid defence and Iglesias, cautiously lifted the ball over the goalkeeper from inside the area from a wide angle.
Sergi Darder should have increased Espanyol lead but was thwarted after he created some space for himself inside the penalty box, but J Masip made an excellent save with a trailing foot.
That goal appeared to be detrimental, though, as Espanyol then lacked the requisite intensity and allowed Valladolid to grow into the game.
The visitors pegged their hosts back on the 17th minute through Ruben Alcaraz goal as he was able to guide a well-placed shot into the bottom right corner from outside the box.
Just before the half-time whistle, Valladolid were handed a gift as Lluis Lopez conceded a penalty as he tried to slide and missed the action horribly, however, as Diego Lopez saved Sergio Guardiola‘s penalty by getting down quickly to the bottom right corner.
Rubi‘s side looked more dangerous after the break to retake the lead in the 55th minute Esteban Granero‘s cross found the unmarked Mario Hermoso at the back post, who squeezed his shot past Masip.
Wu Lei made history by becoming the first Chinese goalscorer in the Spanish LaLiga taking Sergi Darder through pass into the striker as he coolly put the ball inside the post from the centre of the box.
Espanyol were denied a fourth being ruled for offside in the 70th minute Iglesias thought he had hit his brace after rounding the keeper Masip, following Granero pass, but it was ruled out as the striker was offside.
The ‘Parrots’ move up to 11th in the table, while Valladolid remains 16th, just three points ahead of Villarreal in 18th.
