Bordeaux crashed out of the Europa League despite winning 1-0 with a smash and grab Jimmy Briand goal over FC Kobenhavn but fell short in Group C due to Slavia Prague win over Zenit St Petersburg.
Éric Bedouet the Girondins Bordeaux head coach speaking of the 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen said : “It’s a continuation of what we have done so far.We had to win outside, we did not care about the result (Slavia) because we had a small chance.
“The goal is achieved, but not the qualification, because the Czechs won. There are no matches where we have been completely overwhelmed. The match we lost against Copenhagen at home is very painful.Overall, there was not much difference, it was played out on not much”. He told AFP
Over the matches, we have progressed. We saw it against PSG, in Europa League. These matches will serve us in the Championship when it will be difficult. Of course, the team made mistakes, but who does not. We are here to learn, we are a young team, there were mistakes of youth and we saw young people like Jules (Koundé) who was high level. This is a bonus for players participating in the European Cup.
“There is a group that is healthy, it has to last as long as possible. Jimmy (Briand) puts a sumptuous goal on a magnificent action from start to finish. Just before, there is a penalty on him. Copenhagen is a very good team, very difficult to play, they shot at the post, they had opportunities. “
