Leicester City new head coach Brendan Rodgers has outlined his ambitions for the Foxes claiming that he seeks to bring in the good times with a “European place and look to win a trophy,”
Speaking at his first official press conference since he left Celtic to succeed Claude Puel, Rodgers says he sees the club challenging for European positions and challenging for a trophy with the former manager criticised for his dumping out of the FA Cup this season against Newport.
“I think the expectancy is to challenge for a European place and look to win a trophy,” he said.
“I think that has to be the expectation.
“I think what Leicester achieved a few years ago was an incredible story, it’s recognised as one of the most incredible stories in the history of football.
“That will always be difficult to repeat, however, after a certain amount of years of stability in the middle of the table, we have to look to move.
“And for me to come in at this stage of the season to assess where the squad are and see what we can improve.
“I don’t want to put pressure on the players because we want to perform, I don’t want to trap them with wanting to finish seventh.
