Real Madrid sacked youth coach Alvaro Benito on Thursday after he’d made comments on Spanish radio about Casemiro and Toni Kroos after the Copa Del Rey defeat against Barcelona with club legend Raul taking over.
Benito was quoted by Marca claiming that Kroos and Casemiro are playing below their levels
“For me, the problem is that there are players playing well below their level.
“I’m speaking about Casemiro, who isn’t ready to play a single minute in my opinion.
“With [Toni] Kroos, when the wind goes in our favour then we navigate it fantastically, but when it goes against we don’t even get the boat in the water.
“There are others like this.
Speaking on the matter after his sacking the Castilla coach said his conscience is clear and hopes to be back at the club in the future.
“I leave the club of my heart with a calm conscience, as I gave my all each day since I returned to Real Madrid,” he said in a statement.
“I’ve always defended my love for this institution and that’ll stay the same forever.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity I was given to return to the place where I grew up and where I became a footballer, where I learned the values I carried throughout my career.
“It’s a matter of pride to have been at the academy in the past few years and to have helped in the training of the young players who’ll soon be stars at Real Madrid.
