Valverde demands more in Copa Del Rey win over Real Madrid

Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde hás called on his side to improve despite the Blaugrana’s 3-0 win over bitter rivals Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey to win 4-1 aggregate win.

Luis Suarez double either side of the half and Raphael Varane’s own goal in between the Uruguayan striker goals sealed the fifth final in as many years.

The rivals will clash again on Saturday in LaLiga Santander and the coach believes they must improve on the performance.

“They were better in the first half and we lacked offensive intent which we can’t do in the game,” he reflected.

“We lost the ball in bad areas and it could have cost us a goal. It was not a well-rounded game from us, I have to admit.

“Today we scored three goals but didn’t have many chances. Other times, it is the other way around.

“Football can be random like that sometimes. In the Champions League [against Lyon] we had 25 shots and didn’t score; people said we were in crisis.
