Chelsea ended their Europa League Group L fixtures in a comeback 2-2 draw against Hungarian side MOL Vidi to end their 100% winning run.
Vidi who needed a win and results going their way in the other group game between PAOK and BATE for the second spot in the group but the Blues went ahead after Willian’s30th-minute free-kick found the net, thanks to some questionable positioning from Vidi keeper Adam Kovacsik who didn’t attempt to save.
The Hungarian team hit back quickly from some luck, however, when Ethan Ampadu headed into his own goal from a corner just a couple of minutes after the go-ahead goal.
Vidi would take the lead after 56 minutes through Loïc Nego’s sweet volley from close range after Georgi Milanov run from the middle of the field and a cross to the blues back post.
Chelsea completed the comeback from Olivier Giroud to pick out the right corner curling to the top left corner with the keeper placing a defender on the goal line but was unable to get anything on the free kick for the Frenchman’s fourth goal in four games.
The match, however, was marked with accusations of Chelsea fans making anti-semitic chants during the game with the blues issuing a statement that they would look into the matter.
