Niko Kovac praises Bayern willpower and right mentality
Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovic was pleased with the Bundesliga defending champions willpower after overcoming Hertha Berlin 1-0 yesterday with a Javi Martinez 62nd minute strike.
“We had to show willpower and the right mentality after the tough match away to Liverpool, and we did a really good job,” Niko Kovac said in praise of his team.
“We won a very difficult match today. In recent years we didn’t play well and squandered many points against Hertha. As a coach you think about how you can move a match like this in the right direction, and set pieces are weapons.
“Javi is always dangerous with his aerial prowess and his presence in the box, and it shows we did everything right once again.

Pál Dárdai Hertha Berlin coach: “We would have deserved a bit more today. At half-time I told my players the team to score the first goal will win the match.”
“We corrected a couple of small things at the break,” said Dárdai. The 42-year-old coach felt at half-time that his side would come back out as the stronger side and make the breakthrough. “I said to the team that the first goal would decide this match,” explained the coach.
