Labbadia pleased with clinical display
Wolfsburg head coach Bruno Labbadia was pleased with his side’s clinical 3-0 display away to Borrusia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga with Yannick Gerhardt and Admir Mehmedi brace.
Bruno Labbadia: “It’s a wonderful win away to a top team, who played very well, as expected.
“We made a lot of mistakes in the first half and lost the ball too cheaply, which hurt us.
“We didn’t lose our heads, though, and wanted to give Gladbach a fight and put them under constant pressure.
“We scored at exactly the right time. We were unbelievably efficient up front and also had that bit of luck on our side, no question.
“We don’t need to apologize for the result though; the team simply played very, very well.”
Dieter Hecking: “Over the course of a season you sometimes go through spells when every shot goes in and you create lots of chances.
“We played a team that’s establishing itself near the top of the table.
“In games like this you don’t get 12 chances; you only get maybe five or six, but you have to score from them.
“That was one issue. Another was that we shouldn’t have conceded the second and third goals. A top team can’t afford to be that negligent.
“Wolfsburg put in a very good defensive performance.”
