Dortmund drop three goal lead with Hoffenheim Belfodil brace
Borussia Dortmund lost a three-goal lead at home to draw 3-3 against Hoffenheim in the last fifteen minutes with Ishak Belfodil grabbing a brace.
The Yellows and black had raced to a 3-0 lead through a 32nd-minute opener as Lukasz Piszczek teed up Jadon Sancho to finish in an angled low shot and added the second from Mario Gotze’s tap-in goal from a parried shot by the keeper and Raphael Guerreiro close-range finish.
Juliann Naglesmann, however, turned the game on its head with Ishak Belfodil shot into the bottom left corner after Pavel Kaderabek cross went past all the defenders for the Algerian at the back post.
Pavel Kaderabek headed the second on the 83rd minute at the far right side rising highest to power in Grillitsch’s cross and turned the game around after Belfodil’s second from a diving header on 87 minutes for the share of the spoils.
Dortmund forward Götze post-game presser said: “We started really well, which is usually enough to win at home, even if Hoffenheim is a strong opponent. We have to be better and have to finish at home”
Juliann Weigl post-game presser: “We dominated the first half. We kept up the pressure and added a third goal. After that we lost too many balls. It is extremely disappointing, but that’s football. We have to learn from that!”
“I had a good feeling in the opening minutes, but after that there was a break in the game that had to do with the quality of the opponent. We put too little pressure on their six-footer and it wasso that we were able to shift too easily. “
“In the second half we defended very highly and always believed in our chance. We could have scored five or six and that’s why the point goes absolutely fine in the end. “
