Juventus had taken a 3-1 lead with Cristiano Ronaldo brace in between Daniele Rugani goals for the away side Gervinho brace and D’Aversa hailed his side’s resolve.

“We always have to go out there looking to get a result, no matter who we are up against,” D’Aversa told DAZN and Sky Sport Italia.

“The lads did well and few expected us to pick up a point after going 3-1 down, but those who came off the bench helped revitalise our confidence.

“I moved Gervinho over to Leonardo Spinazzola’s flank and caused him a lot of problems with both technique and pace.

“We came out with a different attitude in the second half and really gave Juve a game. We scored goals, conceded them too, and Cristiano Ronaldo was devastating. But if we play open and attacking football, we can trouble anyone.

“Luck was also on our side, as Juventus hit the woodwork twice, but the lads deserved it because we never stopped believing.”
