Borussia Monchengladbach head Coach Dieter Hecking: “In the first half hour we did well in this phase had two good chances where we should have actually taken the lead in the quarter hour before the break we had too many playback errors and have not claimed the balls so well that was unnecessary.

“After the red card against Alexander Nübel we have brought three fresh people then have also found the solutions and in the end also deservedly won.

Coach Domenico Tedesco (FC Schalke 04): “In the first half we did well For the second half we had planned a lot but then we received the red card after 60 minutes because of a far too far forward free kick.

“This scene was ultimately decisive for the game We threw everything in with ten men but unfortunately there was not much more in the end. It’s not easy to play against Borussia at the moment.
