Cagliari sign CSKA Sofia forward Kiril Despodov

Cagliari have officially signed CSKA Sofia and Bulgaria forward Kiril Despodov on a four-year deal.

A club statement read:

“After 47 appearances and 6 goals with Litex, during summer of 2016, he moved to CSKA Sofia, one the most glorious Bulgarian Clubs: he played 79 games with 24 goals, 2 of which scored in Europa League, where he made his debut last July.

“Named best young player of the Bulgarian Parva Liga in 2017, he has been recently awarded as best Bulgarian footballer of 2018.

“A star of the Bulgarian youth selections, from Under 17 to Under 21, he has totalled 43 appearances with 14 goals. His debut in the first national team is dated February 7th, 2015, in a friendly against Romania. Subsequently, 4 more matches followed: in the latter, on the last 13th of October in a Nations League fixture against Cyprus in Sofia, he scored his first goal with the “lions” jersey.

“Despodov is a winger, who is well suited to play also as second forward. Gifted with a notable sprint on the short range and a good run, he proves his speed with fast counter-attack. Technical and skilful, he is gifted with an excellent dribbling, he can try and shoot to goal but can also prove to be a good assist-man.

“Welcome to Sardinia, Kiril!”
