Fiorentina’s Stefano Pioli happy at strange game
Fiorentina took away three points against bottom Serie A side Chievo Verona with ten men in a thrilling 4-3 win after blowing a two-goal lead.
Luis Muriel opened the scoring and Marco Benassi added the second only for Mariusz Stepinski and Sergio Pellissier equalised for a penalty but Viola scored through a brace from Federico Chiesa with Filip Djordjevic scoring the third for the home side.
Stefano Pioli speaking after the game said:
” Second away win? Yes, but this is even more important in a strange game where our game management had to be better, especially after taking a two-goal advantage. He spoke DAZN
“We found an opponent in front who did the crazy match we expected, from a tactical point of view. A very important victory, let’s not forget that here, is an improved Chievo, they drew Lazio and Inter.
VAR controversies? I think it was not a particularly lucky day for the referee, but it was not easy in such a nervous and tense game. Too many goals chalked off by VAR? Yes, it is clear that we want to play from behind with logic, but some mistakes can be in the growth of our players. I do not like to take these goals, but we make lots of them, a symptom of our proactive football”.
