Interim Monaco boss optimistic of survival despite defeat
AS Monaco interim head coach Franck Passi believes the club can survive in the relegation scrap despite a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Dijon in Ligue 1.
Franck Passi interim coach of Monaco, after Dijon 2-0 win: “My immediate future is not the main point of a situation in Monaco which is still 19th. The analysis is simple. We have the first two chances and if we had led, we would have made the match easier and we would probably have won.
” We have had opportunities like in the last four or five games, but we always make the mistake that kills. We let the opponent ahead, we run after the result and it is obvious that it is more complicated.
“The mental problem comes when we look at the rankings. These players have quality. They are armed to be able to maintain themselves, but it is necessary just a small click which must arrive quickly. There are still matches.
“In Lille, when I arrived two years ago, there were 13 matches remaining. There are still 16. I think Monaco will do it. We prepared the match in the continuity of what had been done in recent weeks.
” It was not in 24 hours that we had to change the system, in order to work. On the contrary, players like stability. We’ll let Leonardo Jardim do things later. He did not speak in the locker room. “
