Joelinton had opened the scoring after capitalising on a poor back pass to intercept and finish one on one but the home side hit back with Lucas Höler from a header but Kramaric pulled the visitors ahead from the penalty spot and scored his brace from a Kerem Demirbay slipped pass but Freiburg scored from Florian Niederlechner but Demirbay shot via the crossbar settled the match.

Speaking to the media Naglesmann said: “We were very good on the ball today, our third goal was really well worked. After that, Oli made some great saves and held the lead for us, before Kerem dealt the final blow.”

“There was more pressure on us to get a win today, but we dealt with it well. In footballing terms, we acted with self-confidence and we are very happy, of course, to take the three points home today.”
