Napoli president hits out at FFP
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has hit out at financial fair play claiming it doesn’t work and becomes political.
“FFP doesn’t work, it’s not applied,” De Laurentiis told Tutto Napoli.
“If it was applied then half of Serie A would have to close down. UEFA do what they can, but it’s always a political issue, and anyone who takes a stand is obnoxious.”
The Napoli supremo was speaking in Liverpool where his team would be facing the Reds in their penultimate champions league game with the hosts needing to win with a 1-0 win or two clear goals to seal their advancement into the knockout round.
“Napoli have been doing something extraordinary for nine years, but those who get praised… it’s better to stay calm.
“The lads are here with professionalism and love, they care a lot about the game and they weren’t under pressure in the last one because [Carlo] Ancelotti did well to put in those who hadn’t played for months.
“Everything’s going well, now we have Liverpool, a great club with great owners and superb players.
“I’m calm with Ancelotti, he’s always right and doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone.
“He has won everything and more and then with his experience he can transfer serenity to the players and he knows the right moment to put them at ease.”
