Mount Kenya waste goal winning penalty over Ulinzi
Mount Kenya United conceded in the last minute of the game and went on to waste a penalty in stoppage time for a first win of the season as the Kenya premier league bottom side drew 1-1.
Mount Kenya was beginning their first game under new coach Melis Medo who returned back to the club after ditching Sofapaka with the side managing just two draws so far this season.
Their opponents Ulinzi were coming off a draw against Tusker in the KPL and were down within three minutes of the halftime break with John Ndiragu finding the back of the net.
The Soldiers’ however struck in the dying minutes of regulation time as Justine Omwanga struck to level the scores at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
Melis Medo’s side however were awarded a penalty in stoppage time but Nigol wasted the opportunity leaving the club on 3 points and bottom of the Sportpesa premier league with Nzoia Sugar their next fixture.
Ulinzi are on 11 points, ninth in the KPL and host Kakamega Homeboys in their next fixture.
