Betis were seeking to return to winning ways after going down 2-1 against Real Madrid last week and Girona were coming off the back of a thrilling 3-3 draw against Atletico to win on Aggregate in the Copa del Rey.

Setien’s side took the lead through a Cristian Tello free-kick on 11 minutes but the away side mounted a turnaround as Doumbia latched onto a weak backpass to slip Portu and tee up Aleix Garcia to finish off for the equaliser.

Girona went ahead as Portu pinched the ball off Verdiblancos keeper Lopez to chip in a cross for Doumbia to head home from the six-yard box.

Betis turned up the intensity in the second half and Loren Moron struck on 54 minutes to level the game and turned the game round in stoppage time as  Douglas Luiz brought down Giovani Lo Celso for Sergio Canales to tuck the penalty home.
