Florian Kohfeldt suprised Bremen win ended only 1-0
Werder Bremen head coach Florian Kohfeldt has revealed that he was surprised that their 1-0 win at Hannover ended with just one goal on the scoreboard.
Kohfeldt: “On the whole, I’m pleased. It’s not easy to say where you stand and how you’ll start again after four weeks off. The conditions today were very different to the training camp in South Africa, and there were different requirements. He told the club website
“You never know how it’ll go. I think that we deserved to win the game. When you leave it open until the end, it’s always dangerous. Hannover never gave up, so it was exciting.”
“If it were 1-1, we’d have to talk about it, but it’s not as intense at 1-0. We created a lot of chances for ourselves, but we were denied by Hannover’s superb keeper Michael Esser.
“It’s unbelievable how he played today, for example with the shot from Milot Rashica in the one-on-one.”
“Milot won the game for us today. I’m pleased for him and it’ll do him good. He didn’t score a wonder goal, and I’d have liked to see his volley go in but it didn’t. That happens sometimes.
“We’ve spoken a lot in the past few weeks. I’ve not just put my arm around him, I’ve been critical of him as well. He’s on the right track and I’m looking forward to what’s to come from him.”
Milot Rashica who scored the winning goal against Hannover: “I’m very happy. It feels good to start the second half of the season like that. Missing chances was last year. Now it’s a new year with new opportunities. The rest is in the past. Today I just followed the move right to the end, was in the right place, and finished.
