Guingamp end Stade Rennes winning streak
Ligue 1 bottom side Guingamp have moved to within four points of safety, ending Stade Rennes four-game winning run with a 2-1 win in today’s midweek game.
Guingamp’s Felix Eboa Eboa opened the scoring on 40 minutes from a corner with Lucas Deaux heading the second from a cross by Ludovic Blas on 59 minutes before M’Baye Niang netted a consolation, two minutes from regular time.
Julien Stéphan (Rennes coach): “We woke up late. The last twenty minutes have allowed us to have a number of opportunities. He told the media.
I think it would not have been stolen to come back on the whole match because if we conceded two goals, we did not concede a lot of opportunities. We have the first situations, especially with Jordan Siebatcheu.
On the second part of the game, we made some changes, we changed the system, we took a lot of risk by putting a lot of people in the last 30 meters, but we have no success on this last quarter of an hour.
It’s frustrating for us, it’s a disappointment but we must recover very quickly because a match against Montpellier Sunday at home will be important.
