Vihiga United shock Ulinzi stars 2-0

Vihiga United shocked Ulinzi stars 2-0 to take revenge on the defeat last season with two first-half goals in the opening round of the Sportpesa premier league at the Bukhungu stadium today.

The hosts took the lead with six minutes gone with Vihiga United profiting from a defensive lapse allowed Victor Ademba space and he shot past Saruni in goal for Ulinzi. The goalkeeper was on hand to deny a second with Chris Masinza goal bound shot parried away for a corner kick.

Steven Wakhanya added the second and the eventual winner on the stroke of half-time for Vihiga United for a well-deserved 2-0 at the break.  Ulinzi only serious attempt in the second half came from Boniface Andanyi had an attempt cleared off the line in the four minutes into the second half but couldn’t break down the home side.

Vihiga who are joint top will play Chemilil next round with Ulinzi welcoming KCB FC in Nakuru in the Kenya premier league.
