Tusker FC denied with late penalty in 1-1 draw at Sony Sugar

Tusker was held to a 1-1 draw in their opening game of the Sportpesa Kenya premier league against Sony Sugar at Awendo today.

Tusker had taken the lead with seven minutes to the break as David Juma from a free kick converted Oparia’s set-piece for Robert Matano’s side and were let off the hook five minutes later as Sony Sugar struck the crossbar to head into the break with a 1-0 lead.

With the game heading into the last ten minutes of the game Sony were handed a lifeline as Tusker’s goalkeeper Emery brought down Tobias Omondi and Enock Agwanda converted from the penalty spot for a share of the spoils.

Sony starting XI: Kevin Omondi, Kevin Wesonga, David Mwangi, Salim Odeka, Robert Mudenyu, Wankuru Abdalla, Tobias Omondi, Michael Apudo, Robert Achema (Meshack Karani), Derrick Otanga (Maxwell Onyango), Enock Agwanda.

Unused subs:  Samuel Njau, Kennedy Odhiambo, Andrew Waiswa, Daniel Otieno, Ambrose Ayoyi.
