Stade Rennes nanager Julien Stephan was dissapointed with the penalty loss against AS Monaco describing the loss as the worst in the last six outings.
Julien Stéphan (Rennes coach, after the elimination against Monaco in the Coupe de la Ligue): “We missed pace. We were not good enough technically and not enough races. It’s the least dynamic match and the worst on our last six outings.
“However, we led the break and we thought that with a little more rhythm, we could score the second. Instead, we remained at the mercy of Monaco, who equalized and was more efficient than us in the shootout.
“I am especially disappointed for Tomas (Koubek, the goalkeeper who misses the last shot). He had a great meeting. Now, a derby awaits us Sunday in Nantes.
“We are expecting a big game. It will be necessary to analyze and be able to digest this elimination. We are not here to lament. We are professional. “
