Sofapaka edge out Mount Kenya 2-1

Sofapaka edged out Mount Kenya 2-1 in an open thrilling game at the Machakos Kenyatta stadium in the Kenya premier league.

Mount Kenya Formerly known as Nakumatt were first to threaten with Tevin Opondo hitting the post after being slipped in one on one but Aimo put him off while on the opposite side Waruru was sent clear on the flank but was too wide and his cutback was cut-off.

John Avire should have opened the scoring beating the offside trap and rounding Mount Kenya keeper Aimo but was off balanced and the defender beat him to the ball and ended fouling the opposing player. However the forward wasn’t to be denied as his spectacular diving header from Titus Achesa cross.

Sofapaka added the second after 53 minutes as Kepha Aswani was brought down in the box and Stephen Waruru took the responsibilities to send the ball into the back of the net.

Mount Kenya got back into the game on 75 minutes through a Penalty for Mt. Kenya after Aimo brought down Mukhekhe inside the box with Amani Kyatta scoring for the spot.

Mt.Kenya were reduced to 10 men after their keeper went down with a freak injury after challenging for a cross with Kepha Aswani and had to be stretchered out with Njoroge taking over the gloves after making all three substitutes.
