West Ham make it third in a row with 3-2 Derby win over Palace
West Ham United 3-2 win over Crystal Palace gave the hammers their third win in a row with Manuel Pellegrini looking to a top six finish.
Pellegrini speaking after palace midfielder James McArthur early opener but West Ham scored through Robert Snodgrass, Chicharito and Felipe Anderson second goals changed the game before Jeffery Schlupp header reduced the deficit.
“Today we had two different halves, we played too nervous in the first 45 minutes because we went one goal behind. But in the second half, we prepared better in the final third and scored three goals.”
“We are now in position number 10, five points from sixth position,” Pellegrini said.
“Maybe the first five teams have so many points that it’s difficult, but we must go step by step and try to beat Fulham next week.
“I always look up. I never look down. I always tell the players they must have a winning mentality. They must decide to be a big team so we must be used to seeing what is happening in front of us.”
Crystal Palace Luka Milivojevic slams costly mistakes in the loss to West Ham
Crystal Palace midfielder Milvojevic speaking after the game criticised the manner in which his side conceded the goal blaming the defeat to West Ham to costly mistakes.
“I think it’s unacceptable to concede three goals in 20 minutes, especially in the second half,” he said, speaking to BBC programme Match of the Day.
“We pushed more to try and equalise but in the end, they won. We can take a big, big lesson from this game.
“Every single goal in football is a mistake. I’m not blaming anyone, this is a collective game and when we win, we win together. When we lose, we lose together. I think this is a big lesson for us, we were very poor at the beginning of the second-half.
“The lack of concentration and focus cost us. We didn’t think enough when we attacked about what’s happening behind us. I hope we’re going to learn from this.
Crystal Palace next fixtures see them host Leicester City in the premier league while West Ham goes away to another London Derby against Fulham who were thumped 4-1 at Old Trafford.
