Marseille sunk to a new low as they got embarrassed by fourth-tier side Andrézieux in the Coupe de France match with Rudi Garcia calling it unacceptable.
Marseille boss Rudi Garcia was critical of his side loss to Andrézieux 2-0: “It is unacceptable. Congratulations to Andrézieux. This team which, I remember, evolves in National 2 (4th division), showed what a team that wanted, who was fighting together. He was quoted by L’Equipe
“That’s what we missed a lot. We can put the numbers forward, that we shot 28 times in goal, but we have heated up a lot of the goalkeeper.
“The real opportunities, we did not put them in. We have not been effective before or behind. In Cup competitions, it does not forgive. For Andrézieux, it’s the magic of the Cup and for us, a very bad day.
We knew. We do not have the excuse of the field: we played at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium. The pitch was good. So it’s even worse when it’s like that.
“We are all responsible, me the first obviously. It’s hard to live. We want to see his team win. I will continue to fight day by day for things to change, that we win matches again.
“We have won a lot in the past with a virtually identical group. We must find the victory as quickly as possible and in particular Sunday”.
